The Ministers of Defense of Ethiopia and Rwanda have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in the defense sector.
H.E. Mr. Juvenal Marizamunda, Rwanda’s Minister of Defense, expressed his deep appreciation for the strong defense ties between the two countries and expressed his appreciation for Ethiopia’s support during Rwanda’s difficult times. He highlighted and underscored the importance of further advancing this partnership.
H.E. Engineer Aisha Mohammed, Ethiopia’s Minister of Defense, acknowledged the existing cooperation between Ethiopia and Rwanda and proposed the signing of a memorandum of understanding to formalize their partnership. She also emphasized the need to focus on combating terrorism, advancing peacekeeping initiatives, and addressing other areas critical to the mutual interests of the two countries.
The bilateral meeting of the two defense ministers took place on the sidelines of the 33rd Ordinary Session of the East African Standby Force Ministerial Meeting, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda, on 21 December 2024.
